Yes, you read that right. One look at the album cover explains the color usage as there are more cool blue tones in the pictures and graphics. I get the deluxe edition of Jeremy’s albums whenever they are available. I Will Follow is no exception. The deluxe edition has 14 original songs plus the acoustic version of 2 songs from the album. My initial impression was just being blown away by the time I got to track 7 and I still had 9 tracks to go. I had heard 5 of the songs before either live or with the free tracks that came with the pre-order.
My expectations for the album were high from the first moment I heard “He Knows” on the radio. For any of Jeremy’s works that is the case and so far I have not been disappointed. The same holds true with I Will Follow. The album opens with the catchy beat of “Living Word” and does not stop for nearly an hour when we get the acoustic version of “Here I Am” (and the acoustic is just as powerful as the non-acoustic version). Many reviews will list a favorite track. As I was listening to the album the fist time, I kept going “great song, like that song, and oh that one’s awesome”. So needless to say, I cannot pick a favorite. Jeremy has managed to out do himself again which means he has been seeking God as whole heartedly as possible for him. It also means that he is writing music that I believe God has laid on his heart.
Usually when I listen to one of his albums there is a song that stands out during the first listen through not including the radio single that is currently out, one that really seems to resonate with my soul. As I think about the songs on this album and the over all message reminding us that God is with us no matter what we are going through or have done whether it was good or bad, I am reminded of God’s unending grace and mercy. God wants us to be the best at what He has called us to. He wants us to not be robots or doing things because we are supposed to. He wants us to do whatever endeavor He has called us to with a willing heart and a joyful spirit. I Will Follow reminds us to have the attitude of seeking God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It reminds us of who God is and encourages us to pursue God with everything we have.
