Do you remember as a child willingly, unconditionally loving your parents even when they screwed up? Do you remember trusting them no matter what knowing that they wanted what’s best for you? I realize that some people who read this don’t remember that as their home life was far from this. The only thing they remember was the dysfunction, neglect, and lack of love given freely. But for the majority of us, we knew, despite the circumstances, that we were loved deeply. God loves us deeply as most of our parents do only perfectly. He allows us to explore and learn while trying to guide us the correct way. He let’s us make mistakes and will not ridicule us because of those mistakes. He will let us know the consequences of our actions and do it with an abundance of love. There are people who are blaming jihadists for some recent terror attacks and many times that is the case. There are others who don’t want to speculate even if they have been told who probably did it. I won’t get hard on the 2nd group of people as words are so easily twisted against anyone who is disliked that the disliked person is often disrespected instead of the respect they should be shown.
Showing Jesus to the World
This thought came to me as I was hearing the first part of “Same Power” by Jeremy Camp this morning based on many recent events that have happened globally. It is raw and unedited.
As we look at what is happening around the world we need to remember that there is a God who despite the evil that is going on is still loving and caring. That His power lives in those of us who believe in Him. That power can live in others as well. All that is required is faith in Jesus His son nothing more and nothing less. There is nothing we can do to earn God’s power, His love, or anything else He graciously bestows on us. What will you do about the recent events that are going on around the world, the terrorist lead attacks, the people so desperate for a voice that they are willing to take someone else’s without much thought as to how the voice they want becomes negatively impacted? What can we do during these times? We are in desperate need of an AHA moment. What will it take for us to realize that we need to repent of everything we as individuals have done wrong and what our nations have done wrong. We need to realize that we can’t do it on our own. We need to realize that, despite the science claims, we are created beings not evolved beings. We were lovingly created to willing serve and submit to a loving created who wants the best for us.
So what are we going to do about these recent atrocities? What we should all do: embrace the grieving, befriend the down and out to help prevent them from going off the deep end, befriend those that are part of the same religion as the extremists and show them the truth in love praying that they will not turn towards the violent extremist side of their religion and may even realize that their religion is not one of peace or love. In other words, we should show Jesus to the world.
